When you don’t have an Apple TV, mirroring what’s on your iPad used to be a challenging experience. Alas, Google finally deliver what many iOS users are fervently hoping for. Now, the challenge is how to set it up and begin casting using this handy device.

Setting Up

Of course, setting up your Google Chromecast to your HDTV must have been already done and over with. You may have already started streaming videos, games, sounds, and such from your computer, laptop or Android devices. But since your preferred portable gadget of choice is an iPad, it is better to learn how to properly set it up first.

To begin with, make sure that your Chromecast is carefully lodged unto your smart TV, your Wi-Fi connection is stable with at least 15mbps of speed. Ensure that your iPad device is turned on and with full battery as well as standby charger should the set-up will take long (not a chance!). Do make sure that both Chromecast and iPad are connected to the same internet connection.

Proceed in opening the Google Playstore until you see a link on your homescreen that points you to your iPad. Then, carefully search for the Chromecast app and install it. A series of instructions will follow until it’s through. To check if your Chromecast and iPAd recognize each other, click on “devices” or “discover apps”.

Open the app on your iPad for your streaming device. Choose whichever you want—Hulu, Netflix, HBO Go, or YouTube (for virtually free video streaming)—to see on your smart TV. Press the “broadcast” button and select your Chromecast connection.

Now is the most exciting part—content selection. Simply pick what you want to stream to your smart TV. Whether you want to stream videos, songs, movies, or games, simply press play and it will start streaming automatically from your iPad to the TV. Basically, you can now play, pause, control the volume, change the video, and so on via your iPad.

The fun does not stop there. You can also mirror whatever it is on your iPad to the television via AirPlay for Chromecast. All you need to do is download the Mirroring360 app as well as the Chromecast extension via the Google Playstore. Once the Mirroring360 app is opened, drag it into the apps folder and voila!

Another important aspect in installing the Chromecast app into our iPad is screen customization. Yes, you can virtually customize your television screen when you are not casting. You can make it look like an aquarium or present a slideshow of awesome pictures from your vacation complete with background sound. This makes a great option when entertaining guests at home as you can make your television some sort of interactive art piece.

By knowing how to use Google Chromecast with iPad, you can simply shell out some $35 or less and enjoy the same level of entertainment everyone has.
